The VIM & VIGR team is big on traveling – we go all over the world to visit friends and family, meet new and current retailers and explore new places. Whether we’re traveling by car, plane or train, we know that there are many health risks associated with sitting too long, the position of your legs (ever heard of economy class syndrome?), dehydration, and when flying, low pressure and low humidity. These conditions can leave your legs heavy, swollen and achy, and can increase your risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a condition where blood clots form in a deep vein, usually in the legs. For all of those reasons and more, you will never catch us traveling without our VIM & VIGR compression socks or leg sleeves on. These innovative compression products utilize advanced Gradient Pressure™ knitting technology to improve your circulation and alleviate aching and swelling and prevent and reduce spider veins, varicose veins and DVT. In addition to rocking compression socks or sleeves, here are five things you can do to keep your legs healthy and happy the next time you’re traveling:
Wear loose and comfy clothing. This doesn’t mean you have to wear sweat pants! Try a breathable top, stretchy denim or cotton pants, your favorite pair of VIM & VIGR compression socks or leg sleeves and a comfy pair of shoes. This will help improve your blood circulation and your level of coziness the whole way there.
Take advantage of your leg room. Don’t crowd yourself with bags, snack boxes and reading materials – if you’re flying, store your things in the overhead space so that you can stretch your legs out. You should avoid crossing or folding your legs, too.
Stay hydrated. Keep a trusty reusable water bottle with you wherever you go. If you’re going to the airport, store it in your carry-on bag (empty, of course) and fill it up at a fountain after you’ve gone through security. Keep in mind that alcohol and caffeine cause dehydration!
Walk around. Be sure to take breaks from sitting as often as every hour to stretch out and walk around as much as possible. This will reenergize your circulatory system and help the blood travel throughout the body. Aisle seat, please!
Wiggle your toes. Seriously! When you aren’t able to get up and walk, you can improve your circulation just by moving your toes and heels up and down.

We have a different sizing chart depending on the type of compression garment. Please consider your foot and calf circumference when choosing your size.
If you're in between sizes, ask yourself a few questions:
What is my body type? Will I be more comfortable in a size up or down? Take your body type into consideration when choosing a size especially if you're in between sizes.
Machine wash after each wear, delicate and cold.
Air dry is preferred to maintain the elasticity and quality of fabrics.
Compression garments are made in a variety of support levels, each of which is designed to address different needs. These levels are most commonly expressed in millimeters of mercury (abbreviated as mmHg). Generally, graduated compression is displayed in ranges. The higher the numerical value, the stronger the support level indicated. For example, a 20-30 mmHg garment will offer more support and feel tighter than a 15-20 mmHg garment.
All of VIM & VIGR’s products are offered in 15-20 mmHg compression level and select styles are available in 20-30 mmHg.
Slip your arm into the sock until your fingers reach the toes. Your palm should be resting in the sock's heel.
Starting at the cuff, fold the sock over until it meets the heel. Make sure to fold the sock onto itself.
With the sock still inverted, pull the foot of the sock firmly onto your foot. Make sure your toes are securely in the toe pocket. Starting with the cuff, gradually roll the sock up.
Adjust so that your heel is properly positioned in the heel pocket and the cuff sits below the knee. Make sure the cuff is not pulled up too high.
