Compression Levels

Compression garments are made in a variety of support levels, each designed to address different needs. These levels are most commonly expressed in millimeters of mercury (abbreviated as mmHg). Generally, graduated compression is displayed in ranges. The higher the numerical value, the stronger the support level indicated. For example, a 20-30 mmHg garment will offer more support and feel tighter than a 15-20 mmHg garment.

All VIM & VIGR legwear is offered in a 15-20 mmHg compression level and select styles are available in 20-30 mmHg.

15-20 MMHG

Support Level: Moderate

Ideal for all-day, every day wear. Offers moderate support to reduce ankle and leg swelling, ease tired and achy legs, and aid in muscle recovery.
Commonly used for travel, mild to moderate edema, pregnancy, spider and varicose veins.

20-30 MMHG

Support Level: Moderate to Firm

20-30 mmHg is a medical grade compression level and often comes as a prescription or recommendation by a healthcare provider. Please consult with your healthcare provider before choosing this level of support.
Commonly used for moderate edema, lymphedema, Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT), pre and post-surgical applications, moderate spider and varicose veins.

30-40 MMHG

Support Level: Firm

30-40 mmHg is a prescription compression level and is often prescribed by a doctor for treating health conditions such as venous insufficiency, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and lymphedema. Please consult with your healthcare provider before choosing this level of support.

So impressed

Wow, I only received them today but had to hop on right away because I’m so happy with them. I was just diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency but prior to that had been experiencing chronic swelling that I treated with compression socks. I had never found a pair that fit just right or felt just right - until now. My leg feels well supported, the stocking actually fits because there are options for larger calves (necessary for swollen legs!), and I can tell the swelling in my foot has gone down even after just an hour. One of the issues I have with other pairs is terrible pilling so time will tell on the wear of these but I’m just so happy with the fit and will continue justifying the cost to buy new ones in the future as needed. (The material that these are made of don’t seem like it would be an issue, for what it’s worth.) Added bonus - my whole family is from western Montana so I always get excited supporting small businesses from that area. So happy with this purchase.

Great!

They really work on keeping your foot from swelling no more pain!

Effective and Comfortable

Despite the high compression, these socks go on surprisingly easily and are reasonably comfortable even for long hours. The nylon is nice and light as well.

Very comfortable

Ordered the wide calf version and fits perfectly. The compression is just what the doctor ordered and did not constrict my leg even after being on my feet all day. Highly recommend!

Fits well, good compression. I use the stronger compression when driving long trips.
